Supporting Your Journey

ANXIETY

If you are struggling with anxiety, you are not alone.  Anxiety can get worse if it is left unaddressed.  Many people with this struggle experience waves of anxiety, feel unable to relax, have repetitive thoughts or worries, and begin to avoid activities that may trigger their anxiety. Our therapists can help you understand and contain your anxiety.  We will start by building a trusting relationship, and then assess your current stressors, family history, and past experiences with anxiety.  We then begin to teach you about anxiety and how to contain it. Through this process, you can experience freedom from your anxiety instead of bondage to it.

DEPRESSION

Depression can feel overwhelming. Many of our clients describe depression as a black hole. Common symptoms of depression include fatigue, insomnia, irritability, weight changes, and feeling sad. You are not alone. We can help you explore and understand depression as well as help you find your way out. Perhaps you have encountered a particular struggle in your life that has been left uncared for and now you need some support in understanding how those events have impacted you and in understanding how to cope. We provide a safe and supportive environment to receive care.

ADDICTIONS

Our staff understands the nature of addictions. You may feel double-minded.  Sometimes you feel in control and other times you feel like your struggle controls you. We work with sexual addiction, chemical addiction, and other types of addictions. We can help you and your family navigate the rough waters of creating healthy patterns that provide the context for recovery as well as helping you consider the underlying causes of your struggle. If you are not sure if you struggle with chemical or behavioral addiction, we will help you assess your level of struggle by considering some of the following questions: Has my behavior grown to the level of addiction? Do I find myself feeling in control of the behavior or chemical at times and out of control at other times? Do I find that I need to engage more and more in the chemical or behavior to feel good? Do I find myself seeking that behavior or chemical when I am feeling sad or struggling with a problem?  If you are not sure then please do not suffer alone.  We are not made to suffer alone but to reach out for help

 TRAUMA AND CHILDHOOD ABUSE

Many people have experienced or witnessed very scary events in adulthood and childhood.  If you have experienced or think you may have experienced something inappropriate in your childhood, you may have unusual body sensations or fuzzy pictures in your mind of these events.  This can be very confusing. Many people feel this way when they have experienced or think they may have experienced something scary in childhood. Many people feel unconnected to their body or do not understand why they experience ongoing depression, anxiety, unusual fears, or just feel generally unsafe. If you have experienced something scary in adulthood, you may find yourself isolating emotionally and avoiding people, places, or things. We can help you calm your mind and body as we journey together at a pace that feels tolerable to you. Learning to understand yourself will empower you to feel safe and in control of your life again.

RELATIONAL ABUSE

Perhaps you are beginning to feel "crazy" in your current relationship. This is often how people feel when they think their current relationship may be emotionally, physically, or verbally abusive. It is clearly time to reach out for help. You are made to be treated with honor and respect. We can help you figure out and assess your relationship and decide if you are in a healthy relationship or not. Many people in this situation struggle with anxiety and depression and begin to isolate themselves more and more when their relationships begin to feel abusive. They may also begin to question themselves and think they really are "crazy" and find themselves stuck in the trap of trying to "do better" to make the problem go away.

ANGER

Anger can emerge in many different ways and come from many different places. For many people who struggle with anger, it can feel like it comes up suddenly and unexpectedly like a storm. Learning to understand why you feel anger and the other emotions that often hide behind anger, learning to slow anger down, and managing anger appropriately are part of our treatment strategies.

GRIEF AND LOSS

Many people struggle with grief and the grieving process. If you have lost someone close to you, you may be struggling with intense sadness, numbness, or overwhelming depression. For others, the loss feels overwhelming due to trauma or other challenges in the relationship. Although anger, depression, bargaining, shock, and denial can all be part of the grief process, understanding and walking through the loss and pain is important. Our therapists are trained in grief counseling and they can help you journey through the pain and care for your struggles.

EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.  Some of our staff are certified in EMDR as a therapeutic tool to treat a variety of struggles related to trauma and anxiety.  EMDR is a great tool in the therapist toolbox for a variety of challenges including reducing anxiety, processing trauma, and installing confidence.

SEXUAL STRUGGLES

Sexual struggles such as pain, addiction, or sexual performance challenges often result in fear and shame in couple relationships.  These challenges do not have to keep you hiding.  Finding support and help is important.  Sexual struggles may show up in different seasons of the family and individual life cycle.  Our team wants to help you figure out the challenges in a supportive and confidential environment.
